Zais headed to nationals following NCAA automatic cut at NYU

NEW YORK, N.Y. - Wheaton College women's swimming & diving senior Nicole Zais (Sudbury, Mass./Lincoln-Sudbury Regional) assured herself a spot at next month's national championship thanks to notching an NCAA automatic qualifying time at Saturday's New York University's Last Chance Meet in the Coles Sports Center.

Earning an NCAA Championship provisional qualifying mark during the 200-yard breaststroke at last weekend's New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship, Zais not only shattered that time by over three seconds but also bested her two-year-old school record by more than two ticks with a time of 2:19.35.

The NCAA Championship takes place at the University of Tennessee from March 23-26.
