CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Wheaton College men's and women's swimming and diving teams opened their seasons at the Charlie Batterman Relays at MIT Saturday afternoon.
The Wheaton women placed second in both the 200-yard medley relay and the 200-yard butterfly relay. Junior Dana Auger (Milford, Mass.Milford), sophomores Nina Lanctot (Chatham, Mass.) and Adrienne Madden (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth), and freshman Cara Morris (Irvington, N.Y./Irvington) recorded a time of 1:54.43 in the medley relay while the team of Madden, Morris, senior co-captain Taryn Brosnan (Westford, Mass./Academy of Notre Dame) and freshman Kelsey White (Bath, Maine/Morse) completed the butterfly relay in 1:53.22.
The Lyons 200-yard breaststroke relay team of Lancott, Brosnan, Miller, and junior Kirstie Parkinson (Singapore, Singapore/Singapore American School) also tallied a second-place finish with a time of 2:11 95. Wheaton placed third in the 200-yard backstroke relay as Auger, Madden, junior Elle Van Cott (Black Delmar, N.Y./Bethlehem Central), and freshman Lauren Naruse (Maui, Hawaii/Seabury Hall) posted a time of 1:59.37. The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Madden, Van Cott, Auger and Morris placed third with a time of 1:43.00.
On the men's side, the Lyons relay teams recorded six fourth-place finishes. Sophomores Emerson Jenkins (Kansas City, Mo./Pembroke Hill School) and Nick Oliveri (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) were members of the 200-yard butterfly and 400-yard freestyle teams. Senior Trevor Deans (Redding, Conn./Joel Barlow) was a member of the 200-yard backstroke relay team, the 200-yard breaststroke team, and the 400-yard freestyle intermediate relay team. Freshman Nick Fredette (Stoneham, Mass./Stoneham) helped the 200-yard butterfly relay team, the 200-yard breaststroke team, and the 400-yard freestyle intermediate team to fourth-place finishes.
The Lyons return to action next Saturday when they compete at Roger Williams at 1 p.m.
