BRISTOL, R.I. - The Wheaton College women's swimming & diving team defeated Roger Williams University 154-140 Saturday afternoon in non-conference competition. The men's squad suffered a 186-105 setback to the Hawks.
Junior Caroline Isaacs (San Jose, Calif./Archbishop Mitty) placed first in the 100-yard free, 200-yard free, and 500-yard free, and was part of the first-place 400-yard free relay with senior Sarah Miller (Madison, N.J./Madison) and freshmen Adrianne Madden (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth) and Cara Morris (Irvington, N.Y./Irvington).
Senior Alexandra Wilson (Suffield, Conn./Suffield) captured first-place in both the one-meter (188.35) and three-meter (160.80) diving events. Madden finished first in both the 50-yard back and 50-yard butterfly, and was a member of the first-place 200-yard medley relay with Morris, junior Dana Auger (Milford, Mass./Milford), and sophomore Nina Lanctot (Chatham, Mass.).
Auger (50-yard backstroke), Lanctot (50-yard breaststroke), and Morris (100-yard free) also recorded first-place finishes in their respective events.
On the men's side, sophomore Emerson Jenkins (Kansas City, Mo./Pembroke Hill School) placed first in the 50-yard free and was a member of a pair of first-place relay teams. He helped the 200-yard medley relay team of sophomore Sam Jackson (Darien, Conn./Darien) and freshmen Dominic Ziolek (Londonderry, N.H./Londonderry) and Richard Jenkins (Bow, N.H./Bow) win their respective event, then teamed up with Jackson, junior Sam Neill (Ludlow, Mass./Belchertown) and freshman Nick Fredette (Stoneham, Mass./Stoneham) to win the 400-yard free relay. Fredette went on to capture first-place in the 500-yard free.
Both squads return to action next weekend when they head to White River Junction, Vt. to compete in the New England Invitational.
