CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Wheaton College men's and women's swimming & diving teams wrapped up competition at the MIT Invitational Saturday evening. The women placed fourth with 376 points while the men were sixth with 114 points.
Freshman Cara Morris (Irvington, N.Y./Irvington) recorded the best finish of the afternoon for the Lyons, placing first in the 100-yard freestyle. She also took second in the 100-yard butterfly and was a member of the second-place 200-yard medley relay team with junior Dana Auger (Milford, Mass./Milford) and sophomores Adrianne Madden (Falmouth, Mass./Falmouth) and Nina Lanctot (Chatham, Mass.).
Senior Taryn Brosnan (Westford, Mass./Academy of Notre Dame) placed second in the 200-yard butterfly. Wheaton also grabbed fifth in the 400-yard freestyle medley relay using a team comprised of Madden, Morris, senior Sarah Miller (Madison, N.J./Madison) and junior Caroline Isaacs (San Jose, Calif./Archbishop Mitty).
On the men's side, sophomore Charlie Maier (Sudbury, Mass./Lincoln-Sudbury Regional) recorded Wheaton's highest finish on the day, placing third in the 1 mtr dive event. The 200-yard medley relay team of senior Devon Best (Brentwood, Tenn./Ravenwood), sophomores Sam Jackson (Darien, Conn./Darien) and Emerson Jenkins (Kansas City, Mo./Pembroke Hill School), and freshman Cory Hedges (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) finished eighth.
The Lyons return to action on Saturday, January 13 when they compete against Clark and Mount Holyoke in South Hadley, Mass.
