Hayden and DaCorte Break School Records at MIT Invite

THE RUNDOWN:  

  • Wheaton's 200-yard medley relay team (Eva Pet, Elizabeth Bernardy, Aleza Epstein, and Jenna Hayden) finished in the A finals, concluding the race in 1:48.95. The Lyons also earned points from the B final squad of Kathryn Cole, Karen Iizuka, Katherine Vitello and Kate Dransfield

  • First-year Lydia DaCorte finished the weekend with three school records, setting them in the 1000, 1650 and the 500 free. DaCorte set the 1000 (10:40.90) and 1650 (17:45.15) records on Saturday, before taking down the 500 free record on Sunday with a time of 5:05.41. DaCorte also competed in the 100 fly where she finished in 59.72. 

  • Hayden also broke a school record on Saturday, taking down her own 200 free record with a new time of 1:53.91. The senior followed that up with a win in the 100 free on Sunday, touching in 52.49. Hayden finished sixth in the 100 fly with a time of 57.92. 

  • Pet set a lifetime best in the 200 back with a time of 2:07.57. Pet also finished in the A finals of the 100 free with a time of 54.91. Cole, Vitello and Alexa Resetar joined Pet in the 200 back B finals, with Cole touching in 2:13.56, while Vitello and Resetar touched in 2:16.67 and 2:18.24 respectively. 

  • Caitlin Daley finished in the top group of the 100 free with a time of 55:14, while Maggie Lawler finished the B finals with a time of 56.48. Cole and Sophia Hatzikos also made the B finals in the 100 free. 

  • Lucy Frey earned the Lyons points in the 500 free with a B final time of 5:32.06. 

  • Epstein concluded the 100 fly in 1:00.46.

  • Wheaton earned points from Erin Kean, Berndardy, Rowan Rice 200 breaststroke with Kean leading the way with a final time of 2:33.59. Kean also led the way for Wheaton in the 200 IM with a time of 2:20.03. Catie Ebsary joined Kean in the IM, touching in 2:21.39.

  • The Lyons 400 free relay team of DaCorte, Epstein, Pet and Hayden earned a third place finish with a time of 3:33.59.
