Wheaton and fifth-ranked Denison rained out in Hilton Head
HILTON HEAD, SC- The Wheaton College women's tennis team's match against nationally-ranked Denison University of Ohio on Wednesday was rained out after the Big Red had taken a 3-0 lead during the Lyons' final contest of their southern trip.
Wheaton is ranked 10th in New England by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), while Denison is fifth in the country.
Since neither team reached five points, the suspended match is ruled a no contest. Wheaton suffered individual losses at second and third doubles and sixth singles. In the top doubles slot, juniors Sarah Geocaris (Newport Beach, CA/Sage Hill School) and Catherine Teague (Manchester, NH/Central) were trailing 6-3 before the match was called.
Wheaton's next contest will be up north against visiting Colby-Sawyer College in non-league action on April 11 at 11:00 a.m. Prior to that, the Lyons will host their annual Wheaton Invitational on Sunday, March 28, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
