Geocaris and Teague again awarded NEWMAC doubles honor

NORTON, MA- Wheaton College women's tennis juniors Sarah Geocaris (Newport Beach, CA/Sage Hill School) and Catherine Teague (Manchester, NH/Central) were named New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Doubles Team of the Week for the second straight week for the week ending on Sunday, September 13.

Earning the award for the sixth time in their careers, the regionally-ranked tandem went 2-0 from the first position last week to remain perfect in four matches this season.  Geocaris and Teague stand 11th in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) Northeast poll.

The duo picked up a 9-8 win on Wednesday against visiting Brandeis University, the 14th-ranked school in the region, before blanking a Mount Holyoke College tandem, 8-0 during Wheaton's NEWMAC opener on Saturday.

The Lyons, who are ranked 12th in the Northeast with a 3-1 record, take the week off from competition as a team while select individuals will travel to Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) to compete in the three-day ITA Regional Tournament this weekend.
