Women’s Tennis Ranked No. 18 In ITA Northeast Regional Rankings

Lyons finished fall season with 10-3 overall record

NORTON, Mass. – The Wheaton College women's tennis team has been ranked No. 18 overall in the 2013-14 NCAA Division III Northeast Regional rankings by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).

The Lyons finished with a 10-3 overall record in the fall and advanced to the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) semifinals before bowing out to Wellesley College, 5-0. Within the top-20, Wheaton is ranked ahead of No. 19 Bates and Ithaca, St. Lawrence and William Smith who are all tied for No. 20 in the Northeast Regional rankings.

Junior co-captain and NEWMAC Athlete of the Year Alexandra Marlowe (Mesa, Ariz./Mountain View) has been ranked No. 17 overall among all singles players, while Marlowe and senior co-captain Lyndsay Cooke (Bakersfield, Calif./Bakersfield Christian) were also tabbed as the 11th best doubles team in the Northeast Region.

Marlowe went 11-2 overall on the season including a 10-0 mark at No.1 singles and a 7-0 record in conference play. As a doubles tandem, Cooke and Marlowe posted a 10-5 record including a 5-2 mark in conference play.
