Women's Tennis Sweeps Oneonta State, 9-0

Lyons conclude season at 14-4 overall

ONEONTA, N.Y.  – The Wheaton College women's tennis team wrapped up its 2013-14 season with a 9-0 victory over Oneonta State in non-conference action on Sunday afternoon at the Heissan Tennis Courts. 

In doubles play, junior co-captain Alexandra Marlowe (Mesa, Ariz./Mountain View) and senior co-captain Lyndsay Cooke (Bakersfield, Calif./Bakersfield Christian) posted an 8-1 victory at the No. 1 position. 

Freshman Amanda Brazell (Las Vegas, Nev./The Meadows School) and senior Morgan Bell (Gloucester, Mass./Pingree School) claimed an 8-2 triumph at No. 2, while seniors Sarah Crom (Bremen, Germany/International School of Bremen) and Jessica Moore (Middletown, R.I./The Prout School) turned in an identical score at No. 3. 

Marlowe went to make quick work of her opponent at No. 1 singles with a 6-0, 6-1 score. Cooke did not drop a set at the No. 2 position and Brazell turned in a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 3. 

At No. 4 singles, Bell cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 decision, while Crom claimed a 6-0, 6-1 triumph and sophomore Izzy Gorham (Durham, N.H./Oyster River) registered a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles. 

Wheaton concludes its season with a 14-4 record, its first season with ten or more wins since 2010-11.
