Women's Tennis Blanks Whittier 9-0

WHITTIER, Calif. - The Wheaton College women's tennis team earned a strong 9-0 win over the Whittier Poets Friday afternoon. 

The morning began with an 8-0 win from Michelle Trainor and Olivia Donovan at No. 3 doubles. The pair took down Sarah Medina and Esther Choe. Harley Swainston and  Connor O'Keefe followed suit, earning an 8-4 win at the No. 2 spot, which was followed by an 8-3 win from Ines de Bracamonte and Isabelle Garvanne

Trainer made it a 4-0 contest with a win at the No. 5 singles spot, where the senior defeated Media 6-0 in both sets. de Bracamonte secured the win with a strong 6-0, 6-1 win at the No. 1 spot. Garvanne won her match (No. 2) 6-2, 6-1, while Swainston (No. 4) won 6-2, 6-0 and O'Keefe (No. 3) picked up a 6-3, 7-5 win. Donovan rounded out the scoring for the Lyons with a 6-4, 6-2 win from the No. 6 position. 

Wheaton returns to the court on Saturday, March 25 with a 1 p.m. contest at Trinity (Conn.)
