Women's Tennis Sweeps Emerson 9-0

THE RUNDOWN:  

  • Wheaton started the day with an 8-1 win in No. 3 doubles with Harley Swainston and Arielle Klopsis defeating Sabrina Jacobs and Sarah Skeeles. 
  • The Lyons then picked up an 8-2 win in No. 1 doubles (Ines de Bracamonte/Isabelle Garvanne), before completing the sweep with an 8-5 victory from the No. 2 team (Jodi Katz/Connor O'Keefe). 
  • de Bracamonte earned the Lyons their first singles point, taking down Alisha Parikh 6-0, 6-3 from the top spot, which was followed by a win from Swainston in the No. 5 position (6-0, 6-2). 
  • Katz earned Wheaton the victory with a 6-0, 6-2 win from the No. 3 spot, defeating Rachel Scalera. 
  • Allison Burton followed with a 6-0, 6-2 win (No. 4), before Garvanne (No. 2) picked up a 6-2, 6-2 win and Arielle Klopsis (No. 6) won 4-6, 6-3, 10-3 to complete the sweep. 

UP NEXT: Women's tennis returns to action on Sunday, April 15 at 2 p.m. for a NEWMAC contest against the Cougars of Clark University. Due to the weather the match will become a home one for the Lyons and will take place in the Beard Fieldhouse.
