Little voted NEWMAC Co-Rookie of the Year
NORTON, Mass. - Wheaton College freshman Ashante Little (Seabrook, N.H./Winnacunnet) was voted New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women's Track & Field Co-Rookie of the Year during Monday's postseason meeting at Wheaton. Little is the 11th Lyon to pick up the award in 16 years.
Sharing the honor with a Smith College athlete, Little earned an all-conference honor and NCAA national meet provisional qualifying standard at Saturday's NEWMAC Championship. She came in second in the 400-meter hurdles with a provisional qualifying time of 1:03.46.
The Lyons placed third during the nine-team NEWMAC Championship, matching their showing in 2009, and are back in action this Friday and Saturday for the NCAA New England Championship at conference school Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
