4x100 Relay Guides Lyons at New England Division III Championship

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - The Wheaton College women's track & field team competed at the New England Division III Championship this weekend, hosted at Williams College.

Wheaton's 4x100-meter relay was the highlight of the meet, earning a new season-best time of 47.71 for second place, thanks to senior Kalah Thomas, senior Emily Gustavson, junior Raevyn Fontaine and first-year Briana Gausland

In the 3,000-meter steeplechase, the Lyons battled it out with runners first-year Katie LeBlanc, first-year Gina Pardi, first-year Abby LeBlanc and sophomore Rebecca Miceli who all placed respectively.

Senior Samantha Kaplan competed in the heptathlon for Wheaton, making waves in the high jump where she claimed a 1.60m final for third place. She ended the meet with a 3,495 final score overall in the heptathlon.

In field events, junior Elizabeth Akindolie represented the Lyons in the triple jump while sophomore Cathryn MacGregor tied her personal best in the javelin with a 38.15m final.

Wheaton competes at the Open New England Championship next weekend, hosted at Williams College to continue postseason action.
