Brown elevated to interim head coach

NORTON, Mass. - Kara Brown has been named interim head coach for the Wheaton College women's volleyball team, effective January 4, 2011, following her first season as an assistant with the Lyons.  She takes over for Ben Read, who resigned in November after serving as Wheaton's head coach for five seasons.

Prior to her arrival in Norton, Brown assisted the women's volleyball program at Division I Villanova University for two seasons, helping lead the Wildcats to a 30-29 record, including a 16-13 mark in 2009.

From July 2005 through August 2008, Brown served as the head girls' volleyball coach at Chattahoochee High School, her alma mater, in Johns Creek, Georgia, and coached club with TCA Volleyball in Atlanta.  She was an outside hitter during her playing days with club teams.

Graduating magna cum laude in 2007 from Kennesaw State University in Georgia, Brown earned a bachelor's degree in elementary and early childhood education.  She currently works as a preschool teacher at The Learning Experience in Concord.
