BRISTOL, R.I. – The Wheaton College women's volleyball team suffered a pair of 3-0 losses on Saturday afternoon to Roger Williams University and Trinity (Conn.) College at the Recreation Center Gymnasium on the campus of RWU.
Sophomore Lindsay Tebbetts (Gilmanton, N.H./Gilford) recorded a team-high seven kills against the Hawks (14-3), who won 25-18, 25-17, and 25-13. Senior co-captain Emily Davisson (Carpinteria, Calif./Laguna Beach School) added 16 digs, junior Olanna Nissim (Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich) dished out 14 assists, and junior co-captain Christina Cannon (Milford, N.H./Milford) tallied five kills and seven digs.
For the Hawks, junior Kelsey Twarog (Barkhamsted, Conn. /Northwestern Regional) posted a team-high nine kills while sophomore Holly Hancock (Tilton, N.H./Winnisquam Regional) finished with seven. Senior Marybeth Torpey (Quincy, Mass./Quincy) and freshman Marybeth Torpey (Wlbraham, Mass./Minnechaug Regional) each had six kills.
Against the Bantams, Tebbetts threw down six kills to lead the Lyons while junior Rachel Vergara (Needham, Mass./Needham) notched five. Junior Danielle Isaman (West Hartford, Conn./Loomis Chaffee) paced Trinity with 12 kills, senior Kelly O'Brien (Pelham, N.Y./Pelham Memorial) recorded 10 kills, and senior Jennifer Low (San Francisco, Calif./University) handed out 33 assists as the Bantams won 25-17, 25-12, and 25-15.
The Lyons (2-13) return to action on Wednesday when they travel to WPI for a 7 p.m. match.
