WILLIMANTIC, Conn. - Sophomore Lindsay Tebbetts (Gilmanton, N.H./Gilford) tallied 17 kills (.545 hitting percentage) to lead the Wheaton College women's volleyball team to a 3-1 win over Worcester State University Saturday afternoon at the 31st Annual Crabtree Classic.
Junior Marguerite Copeland (Woodbridge, Va./Oldfields School) and sophomore Kara-Jane Walker (Needham, Mass./Needham) added seven kills apiece for the Lyons (3-18), who won 25-12, 23-25, 25-13, 29-27.
Junior Olanna Nissim (Greenwich, Conn.) dished out 41 assists for Wheaton while senior co-captain Emily Davisson (Carpinteria, Calif./Laguna Blanca School) recorded 20 digs and junior co-captain Christina Cannon (Milford, N.H./Milford) notched six kills and 18 digs.
Following the win, the Lyons wrapped up action at the tourney with a 3-0 loss to host Eastern Connecticut State. The Warriors won game one 25-12, game two 25-13, and game three 25-14.
Tebbetts and sophomore Rachel Vergara (Needham, Mass./Needham) each registered three kills to pace Wheaton. Nissim had 11 assists while Davisson and Cannon combined for 19 digs.
For her efforts, Davisson was named to the named to the All-Tournament team. In four matches, she combined to post 63 digs, 10 service aces, and nine assists.
The Lyons return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Worcester for a 7 p.m. match with Clark University.
