NORTON, Mass. – Wheaton College women's volleyball senior Emily Davisson (Carpinteria, Calif./Laguna Blanca School), junior Christina Cannon (Milford, N.H./Milford), and sophomore Kara-Jane Walker (Needham, Mass./Needham) were each named to the 2011 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) All-Academic Team.
A three-time all-academic selection, Davisson holds a 3.59 grade point average (GPA) as a psychology major. Cannon – who was named to the team last season as a sophomore – has a 3.76 GPA in art history while Walker is a psychology major with a 3.58 GPA.
"Emily, Christina and Kara work very hard on and off the court," said Wheaton head coach Craig Letourneau. "They are very passionate about Wheaton College and I am not surprised that their hard work has paid off in this academic honor."
Honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale after the 2011 spring semester, achieved second year academic status at her institution, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.
