GAME ONE:

SCORE: Wheaton 3 - Plattsburgh 0 (25-20, 25-16, 26-24)

RECORDS: Wheaton (3-0, 0-0 NEWMAC) - Plattsburgh (1-2)

THE RUNDOWN:  

  • Julia Palomba and Claire Cansler led all players with eight kills, while Cathryn MacGregor chipped in seven for the Lyons.
  • Houghton had a game-high 20 assists, while Martin led all players with 23 digs. 
  • Houghton and Martin both earned one of Wheaton's two block solos, while Cansler led the team with four block assists.
  • The opening set was a back and forth until a kill by Allison Cox shifted the momentum in Wheaton's favor at 13-12. 
  • The Lyons rallied back from a 7-2 deficit in the second set, capturing a 9-8 lead, on solid serving from Cansler and Palomba. 
  • After an even third set, the Lyons erased a 24-24 deadlock with a Plattsburgh error and kill from MacGregor.

THE RUNDOWN:  

  • Cansler led all players with 15 kills, while Palomba finished with 11 and MacGregor nine. 
  • Houghton finished with 37 assists and seven service aces for the Lyons. 
  • Martin added 20 more digs to her career digs total, while MacGregor picked up 13. 
  • Cansler had the Lyons only block solo while leading all players with six block assists. 
  • Despite trailing after the opening two sets, the Lyons came out strong in the third set, taking an early 15-3 lead, en route to a 25-12 win. 
  • The two sides traded points at the start of the fourth set, but after breaking a 14-14 tie, the Lyons never let Potsdam closer than two points. 
  • Wheaton trailed just once in the fifth and final set.
