Lyons compete at NCAA Division III New England Championships

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Wheaton College men's and women's cross country teams competed at the 2011 NCAA Division III New England Championships Saturday afternoon at Bowdoin College. The women placed 32nd with a total of 855 points while the men were 40th with 1,134 points.

Senior Rachel Scavera (North Bend, Ore./North Bend) paced the Lyons through the 6K course with a 98th place finish (23:52), followed by sophomore Shoshana Kruskal (Newton, Mass./Newton North) in 159th place (24:42) and senior Savannah Geasey (Portsmouth, R.I./Portsmouth) in 172nd place (24:55).

On the men's side, junior Karl Mader (Northfield, Minn./Northfield) finished the 8K course in 179th place to lead the men (28:09). Classmate Michael Richard (Chicopee, Mass./Chicopee) was next in 207th place (28:48), and senior Sean Astle (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Ludlowe) was third for Wheaton in 222nd place (29:08).
