THE RUNDOWN:  

  • First-year Gavin Reily picked up his first collegiate win after going 5.2 innings, giving up just four runs on eight hits, while striking out four and walking two. Zach Pipa and John Mikosz both saw action, closing out the game for the Lyons. 
  • Ruocco ended the game 4-for-5 with three RBI and three runs scored, including his first homerun of the season and fifth of his career. 
  • Marques, who ended the game 1-for-1 after coming in to pinch hit for Raposo, hit his first homerun of his career over the fence in right field. 
  • Matt Cook ended the game 3-for-4 with three runs scored and four RBI. 
  • Wheaton scored its first run of the game in the opening inning with a solo homerun to left center by Ruocco. 
  • The Lyons then plated five runs in the second inning off of three hits and four Ram errors. 
  • Farmingdale State cut the deficit to 6-2 in the bottom half of the second. 
  • Wheaton took a commanding 15-2 lead in the fourth. Raposo got the scoring started with an RBI single to center that scored Cook. Ruocco was the next Lyon to cross the plate, scoring on a Bryant Salkind single through the left side. Sharkey picked up two RBI with a double to right center that sent both Salkind and Raposo home. Sharkey came around on a single to left by McKeon. Cook got in on the action with a double to right field that brought in Jimmy Gianquitti and McKeon. With one out, Ruocco returned to the plate nad knocked in the final run of the inning with a double down the left field line that scored Cook. 
  • FSU put up one run in both the fifth and the sixth to make it a 15-4 game. 
  • Wheaton ended the scoring in the top of the seventh with a solo homerun from Marques.
