THE RUNDOWN:  

  • Brady Furdon got the start and the win for the Lyons, pitching eight complete innings while giving up just two hits to the 26 batters he faced. Furdon also struck out eight and only gave up one walk. John Mikosz came in for relief in ninth and recorded a save while striking out two.
  • Teddy Downing and Andrew Thibault each recorded a hit for the Cougars.
  • Trevor Marques opened the game up in the bottom of the fourth with a single to center field, picking up an RBI as Nick Raposo scored.
  • In the seventh inning, the Lyons were able to get back on the board as Chris Ruocco doubled to center field, allowing Matt Cook to cross home.
  • Junior Jimmy Gianquitti was 1-1 with an RBI in the eighth inning to make the scoreline 3-0.

THE RUNDOWN:  

  • Dan Southerland picks up the win for Wheaton, pitching six innings while striking out five. 
  • Nick Raposo ended the game 5-for-5, finishing with three runs and two RBI's while Chris Ruocco finished 2-for-5 with three runs and two RBI's. Junior Jared Sharkey batted 4-for-3, scoring three runs while also picking up three RBI's. 
  • Clark started the game off strong, holding the Lyons scoreless for three innings while they picked up a run in the second, third, and fourth. Wheaton got back in the game in the bottom of the fourth and was able to score two more times in the fifth thanks to a Ruocco single and a Raposo double. 
  • In the sixth inning, Ryan McKeon doubled to left center allowing Sharkey to score. Willy Boyd contributed with a sac bunt to help Trevor Marques cross home and Jimmy Gianquitti was able to reach first on an error, allowing McKeon to score. 
  • Sharkey doubled into center field in the seventh to push Raposo and Ruocco around the bases while pinch-hitter Conor Gammond singled through the right side to advance Salkind home setting the game at 10-4.  
  • Raposo and Gammond each picked up an RBI in the eight, extending the Lyons lead to 12-5. The Cougars gave one last push in the ninth, scoring three runs, but it wouldn't be enough to push past Wheaton.
  • John Mikosz picked up the save in the ninth, striking out one.
