NASHUA, N.H. – Senior Emily Asack (Stoughton, Mass./Stoughton) recorded a natural hat trick and freshman Tracy McCann (Westerly, R.I./Canterbury School) added two goals to lead Wheaton College to an 8-0 win over Daniel Webster in non-conference field hockey action Sunday afternoon at Harvey Woods Field.
Senior Tierney Richardson (North Attleboro, Mass./North Attleboro) added a goal and assist as the Lyons (3-2) spoiled the Eagles (0-2) 2011 home opener.
Wheaton - which finished with a 15-5 advantage in shots on goal - built a 5-0 lead at the half with Asack scoring all three of her goals within the opening 20:21 of the opening frame. McCann followed with a pair of goals 1:18 apart just before the break.
Amy Prince (Hope Valley, R.I.) and Teresa Moscati (Buffalo, N.Y.) combined for seven stops for the Eagles. Freshman Madison Wolters (Marston Mills, Mass./Barnstable) made five stops for Wheaton in her first collegiate start.
The Lyons return to action on Saturday when they host WPI in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) opener at 1 p.m. Daniel Webster hosts Framingham State on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.
