BABSON PARK, Mass. – The Wheaton College field hockey faced off against No. 9 Babson College in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) contest Tuesday evening with the Beavers winning 2-0 at MacDowell Field.
Wheaton falls to 6-8 overall and 1-5 in conference action, while Babson clinched a share of the NEWMAC regular season title, improving to 14-2 on the season and a perfect 7-0 in league action.
Babson took a 1-0 lead in the 16th minute of a Jackie Merrigan goal. The Beavers added two more goals in the second half to seal the victory.
Junior goalkeeper Riley Thompson ended the contest with 13 saves for the Lyons.
Babson finished with a 27-1 edge in shots and an 11-0 advantage in penalty corners.
Wheaton return to action on Saturday at 12 p.m. with a contest at WPI.
