Wheaton's (7-8; 2-5 NEWMAC) Kelsey Buckley put the Lyons on the board first, after knocking home a rebound that followed an Engineer defensive save 20 minutes into the contest.

Junior Hannah Southard added what would prove to be the game-winning goal in the 43rd minute with help from Katie Peters. WPI cut the deficit to one just five minutes later with a goal from Carly Cidado.

First-year Karin Dion netted her first career goal in the 66th minute with an assist from senior Amelia Gage. Gage sent the ball to Dion who finished right in front of goal.

Wheaton goalkeeper Riley Thompson came up with three saves, while Karen Noble of WPI made 10 saves.

The Lyons held a 20-4 shot advantage with WPI failing to get a shot off until the second half on Cidado's goal. The Engineers held an 8-7 advantage in penalty corners.

Wheaton returns to the field on Tuesday, Oct. 25 at 7 p.m. on Diane Nordin '80 Field against Bridgewater State.
