Field Hockey Honors Seniors Prior to Mount Holyoke Contest

NORTON, Mass. – The Wheaton College field hockey team ended the regular season by honoring its six graduating seniors prior to the start of the Lyons New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) contest against Mount Holyoke on Saturday afternoon. The Lyons of Mount Holyoke earned a 4-0 win over the home team. 

Wheaton ends the year 7-10 and 2-6 in the NEWMAC, while Mount Holyoke moves to 11-6 overall and 5-3 in conference play. The Lyons of MHC move onto the NEWMAC Tournament Quarterfinal. 

Kaitlin Braz put Mount Holyoke on top in the 14th minute. 

Wheaton only allowed the one goal in the first half, but it didn't take long for Mount Holyoke to find a rhythm in the second half. Sophie Perekslis made it 2-0 in the 44th minute and Kathryn Rawson added another goal just five minutes later. Cymone Martin concluded the scoring in the 70th minute with a pass from Mirjam Keochakian. 

Mount Holyoke held a 16-2 advantage in shots and 16-4 edige in penalty corners. Senior Amelia Gage and junior Kelsey Buckley each finished with a shot for Wheaton. 

Riley Thompson came up with five saves for Wheaton. Liz DiCesare made two saves for MHC, after playing 61:41 minutes, while Ally Tessier was not forced to make a save in her eight minutes of action.
