THE RUNDOWN:  

  • The Wheaton College field hockey team dropped a 1-0 contest at Simmons University this evening after falling behind early in the first quarter. 
  • Despite the one-goal final score, the game was evenly matched throughout, as each team registered 6 penalty corners and the Sharks held a 12-11 advantage in shots. 
  • Haley Dover fired the game-winner, a hard drive from just inside the circle in the 13th minute of the first quarter. 
  • Wheaton took the next seven shots of the game, but Lucy McNamara was solid in anchoring the Simmons defense with each attempt. 
  • Ellie Williams and Hannah Arkin took three shots each to lead Wheaton's offense, while Becca Harmon recorded a season-high two defensive saves. 
  • Morgan Karnes stopped seven Simmons shots on goal in the complete effort, while McNamara stopped eight.
