Four First Quarter Goals Propel Field Hockey Past Johnson & Wales

NORTON, Mass. - The Wheaton College field hockey team rose to a 5-3 win over Johnson & Wales (Providence) after a four-goal first quarter this afternoon on Nordin Field. Ellie Williams put the Lyons on the board first in the fifth minute of the game, just before Karin Dion notched a goal from Lauren Bartlett to double the lead to 2-0. Delaney Stokes added another to the scoreboard less than two minutes later after collecting a ball from Sarah Yates, and Phoebe Seifert added the final goal of the fourth quarter from Hannah Arkin for a 4-0 lead. Jillian Miele and Natalie Rivas combined for a pair of third-quarter goals to cut their team's deficit in half, 4-2, but Dion found the back of the net for an insurance goal in the 52nd minute to keep the Wildcats at bay.
