Arkin Scores in Field Hockey Loss to WPI

NORTON, Mass. - Junior Hannah Arkin scored the only goal of the game for the Wheaton College field hockey team Saturday afternoon as the Lyons fell to visiting WPI 6-1 in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference action.

Wheaton held WPI scoreless until the second quarter when the Engineers netted three goals, before tacking on a goal in the third and two in the fourth quarter. Trailing 6-0, Arkin found the back of the net for the Lyons after collecting the ball at midfield and dribbling into the circle before rocketing the ball into the cage. 

Morgan Karnes and Greta Reilly split time in the cage, combining for 17 saves after facing 23 shots on goal. WPI held a 28-4 advantage in shots and 5-3 edge in penalty corners. 

 

UP NEXT: Wheaton returns to the field on Saturday, Oct. 19 for a NEWMAC contest at Mount Holyoke. The game is set for a 12 p.m. start. VIDEO / LIVE STATS
