Cara Reese is entering her sixth season as head coach of the Wheaton field hockey program in 2018-19. Reese, who is the seventh head coach in the history of the program, joined the Wheaton staff after seven years at Vassar College including a four-year stint as head coach.

In 2015-16, the Lyons went 5-0 to begin the season, the best start under Reese where Wheaton notched two shut out wins during that time.

Reese guided the Lyons to their first double-digit win season since 2011 last fall as the Blue and White finished their 2014 campaign with a 10-8 record overall. Along with success on the field, Wheaton produced in the classroom as well tying the single-season program record for New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Academic All-Conference selections with four total.

During her time at Vassar, Reese increased the team’s win total every season from 2009–11, culminating in the Brewers’ most successful campaign in a decade with a 7–9 mark overall. Under Reese’s leadership two years ago, 13 student-athletes were named to the NFHCA All-Academic Squad. In 2011, the Brewers tied Wesleyan University for the highest GPA among all NCAA Division III programs.

Reese has continued to see her teams achieve academic success at Wheaton this past fall as the Lyons garnered an NFHCA Collegiate National Academic Team award, saw 10 student-athletes named to the named to the NFHCA National Academic Squad and one student-athlete garner Scholars of Distinction accolades.

Reese is a 2006 graduate of Salve Regina University with a bachelor’s degree in biology. Reese was a two-sport athlete at Salve Regina, earning three Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) All-Conference second-team selections in lacrosse and two in field hockey. Reese also served as a captain for the field hockey program during her senior year and was president of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) from 2003–06.

After graduating from Salve Regina, Reese served as an assistant coach for both Vassar’s field hockey team (2006–08) and their women’s lacrosse program (2006–10). During her tenure, Reese also managed several noncoaching duties, acting as an admissions liaison, the director of Student-Athlete Support Services, and a member of the Sexual Assault and Violence Prevention (SAVP) committee.

Reese is an NCAA Women Coaches Academy graduate, and has served on the National Coach of the Year and North Atlantic Regional Ranking committees.
