WORCESTER, Mass. – The Wheaton College men's basketball team hit the road Saturday afternoon to take on Clark University in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) contest with the home team earning an 85-72 victory in Kneller Gymnasium.
The loss drops Wheaton to 7-4 on the season and 1-1 in conference play, while the Cougars move to 4-9 overall and 1-1 in the NEWMAC.
Sophomore Ryan Fogarty had a career night for the Lyons, netting a career-high 25 points on an impressive 10-13 night from the floor. Fogarty drained 4-7 from three-point range, while hitting 1-2 from the free-throw line. Quinton Dale finished with the games only double-double, scoring 17 points and pulling down a game-high 11 rebounds. Senior Billy Battaglia also finished in double-figures scoring 12 points for the Lyons.
All five of the Cougars starters finished in double-figures scoring, paced by 15 points from John Pisacreta. David Mercier knocked down 13 points, Lamar Berk scored 12, Joe Atkinson finished with 11 and Tyler Huffman contributed 10. Corey Gomes chipped in 13 points for Clark off of the bench. Atkinson ended the contest with a team-high eight boards.
Wheaton returns to the court on Monday, Jan. 11 at 6 p.m. in Emerson Gymnasium for a non-conference match-up against Fisher.
