MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Wheaton College men's basketball team opened the Herb Kenny Tip Off Tournament (Wesleyan University) with a 73-58 loss to Western New England on Friday night in Silloway Gymnasium.
Both the Lyons and Golden Bears move to 1-1 on the season.

The first half began as a dog fight with the two sides battling for each point. After trading possession of the lead and tying the contest five times, Wheaton eventually captured its largest lead with 1:47 remaining in the first half. With the game tied at 25-25, the Lyons used a 13-2 run, which was capped off by a Fogarty layup, to take a 38-27 advantage.
Wheaton maintained the lead until an Aina layup with 12:42 remaining in the game handed the Golden Bears a 50-49 lead. The lead would stick despite the Lyons best efforts.
Wheaton returns to the tip-off tournament for a contest against Southern Maine on Saturday, Nov. 19. The game-time is TBA.
