Men's Basketball Falls to #20 North Central

FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. - The Wheaton College men's basketball team fell 89-77 Wednesday evening to No. 20 North Central College at the Broward County Convention Center to conclude action at the Cruzin Classic.

Wheaton (5-6) was led by junior Ryan Fogarty who tallied 15 points for the Lyons, while senior Quinton Dale scored 14 and sophomore David Carbonello finished with 10. Dale went on to register a team-high nine rebounds.

North Central was cushioned with an early lead to start the game after making a string of shots from the field. The Cardinals would maintain the lead for the remainder of game as the Lyons tried to even up the score with three-pointers by Fogarty and Carbonello.

With just over a minute left in regulation, Wheaton chipped North Central's lead to be within six points, thanks to a last second inside basket from Carbonello, but the Cardinals would halt action there and carry possession until time ran out.

The Lyons compete next on Wednesday, January 4 as they travel to the U.S. Coast Guard Academy with game time scheduled for 5:30 p.m. to open New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play.
