NORTON, Mass.- The Wheaton College men's basketball team lost a tough one down the stretch to Coast Guard in a true battle, 87-84.
Wheaton was led by Senior Alex DuBrow who finished with a team-high 27 points while adding 5 assists and 7 rebounds. First-Year Evan Cook was a big spark off the bench scoring 16 points. The Lyons outscored Coast Guard in the paint 40-32.
Garrett Drummond led the Bears with 33 points off the bench while Pack Witkowski added 17 points.
Wheaton took a double-digit lead going into halftime, but Drummond caught fire in the 2nd half. Wheaton took back the lead with a minute left after two made free throws from Aaron Williams. Coast Guard then retook the lead after 4 straight points from Witkowski. Wheaton cut the lead back to one but two made free throws from the Bears extended their lead back to three. Wheaton failed to score on their final possession to tie the game.
