Senior Captains Lead Men's Basketball to Victory on Senior Day

NORTON, Mass.- The Wheaton College men's basketball team defeated Clark 82-79 on Senior Day behind a game-winning shot from Alex DuBrow.

DuBrow finished the game with 29 points as he hit the game's biggest shot with just over 1 second remaining. He shot 10-of-12 from the free-throw line while dishing out 8 assists. Fellow classmate Robby Lowey finished with a near double-double including 18 points and 9 rebounds on 7-of-11 shooting from the floor. First-year Evan Cook led the Lyons off the bench with 12 points. Alex Carlisle finished in double digits with 11 points and grabbed 6 rebounds.

Wheaton jumped out to an early 5-0 lead after both seniors made back to back buckets. Clark went on a 16-0 run late in the first half to take a 49-33 lead heading into halftime. The Lyons cut the lead to single digits when first-year big man Aaron Williams hit a three to make it 55-46 with 15:10 remaining. Shortly after Wheaton went on a 9-0 run capped by a Lowey layup that made it 60-55 in favor of the Cougars with 11:47 remaining. A Cook three-pointer tied the game up at 68-68 with 6:44 remaining. After falling behind six points, DuBrow came up with a big steal and finished the fast break attempt to give Wheaton a 75-74 lead with just 2:33 remaining. After Biko Gayman tied the game at 79-79 for the Cougars with a tough three-pointer, it was the senior's time to shine. As DuBrow carried the ball up the court he created separation after a pick and drained the open look with 1.2 seconds remaining to give Wheaton the 82-79 victory in the senior's final game.
