NORTON, Mass. - The Wheaton College men's lacrosse team fell, 11-9, against the Roger Williams University Hawks on Sunday at Nordin Field to conclude their three-game home-stand to start the season.

The Lyons fall to 0-3 overall with the loss while the Hawks advance to 2-1.

Senior Ryan Gjerset led the team with five goals and one assist while sophomore Josh Talanian registered two goals and senior Will Morrison and sophomore Matt Morgan each recorded one. Roger William's was guided by Eddie Hill who tallied four goals and one assist in the game while John Listano (three goals, one assist), Ryan McNabb (two goals), AJ Core (one goal) and Jude Marzec (one goal) closed out the scoring for the Hawks.

Roger Williams jumped on the board first when Listano earned his first goal of the game at 10:43. From there, the Hawks would score two more times before Gjerset broke through the Hawk's defense and put the Lyons on the board at 8:50. Morgan and Morrison would tie it for Wheaton 3-3 before the first half was over, but utilized Listano again and Marzec to boost themselves to 5-3.

Wheaton wouldn't through their hat in just yet as Gjerset started the second half with two goals to get the Lyons back in the game at 5-5. It would be Talanian who would push Wheaton ahead for the first time of the game after he shot through a goal off a pass from junior Scott Whear

It became the battle of offense for the remainder of the game as both teams tallied additional goals, but at 6:12 the Roger William's Listano would prove to have the game winning goal to make the gap 10-7, and that's all they would need as Wheaton was only able to put up two more goals before the clock ran out to give the Hawks the 11-9 victory.

Roger William's goalkeeper tabbed 11 saves during the game while Wheaton first-year goalkeeper Colin Walsh earned nine.

Wheaton held the 20-19 advantage on ground balls while Roger Williams won 13 of the 22 face off attempts.

The Lyons begin five straight road games, beginning with New England College on Monday, March 13 in Virginia Beach during spring break.
