AMHERST, Mass. – One hundred and twenty-eight senior men's lacrosse student-athletes have earned selection to the 2019 New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) Academic All-New England teams, including Wheaton senior Matt Morgan.
Members of the team are nominated by head coaches in Divisions 1, 2 and 3, and are comprised of student-athletes who have excelled both in the classroom and on the field over the course of their men's lacrosse career.
This year saw an increase of 36 student-athletes who meet the criteria, which requires that nominees must have senior standing, a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale, and be a significant enough player that he was nominated for at least All-Conference selection.
Morgan, who was one of five Wheaton athletes to earn New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) academic honors earlier this season, finished the season with 17 goals in 13 games. The senior also finished the year with 14 assists for 31 points, while picking up 25 ground balls and causing nine turnovers. Morgan also claimed Wheaton's Dean Sue Alexander Male Senior Student-Athlete award.
