Men's Soccer Wins Third Straight With 3-0 Win Over Keene State

NORTON, Mass. - The Wheaton College men's soccer team earned its third consecutive victory on Saturday afternoon, taking down visiting Keene State 3-0 at Keefe Field.

The Lyons are now 3-2 on the season, while the Owls fall to 0-4 overall. Matt Dickey picked up his first win of the season in goal for Wheaton, coming up with three saves on three shots faced.

First-year Ian Fromhein put the Lyons on the board just 11 minutes into the contest with the help of a nice feed from Kevin Gil. Taking the ball up the middle, Gil slotted the ball through three defenders to the feet of Fromhein who gently buried it in goal.

Wheaton made it a 2-0 contest in the 52nd minute, this time with Gil finding Michael Williams. The Lyons final goal came in the 71st minute on a Shawn Suzuki goal. Suzuki blasted in the goal after cleaning up a deflection from a Steven Pinski shot.

The Lyons outshot the Owls 20-7, while holding a slim 8-7 advantage in corners.

Wheaton returns to the field on Sunday, Sept. 13 at 2 p.m. at Keefe Field against Colby.
