Three Goals Secures Victory for Lyons Over Bridgewater State

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -  The Wheaton College men's soccer team utilized three goals to defeat the Bridgewater State University Bears, 3-0, on Sunday in a nonconference matchup.

The Lyons advance to to 5-2-1 on the season with the win while the Bears fall to 2-3 overall.

Senior captain Kevin Davis notched two assists in the game, currently leading the team with three on the season. First-year Roni Diniz recorded his team-leading eighth goal of the season during the first half off a pass from first-year Chris Brubaker to put the Lyons on the board with just two minutes remaining.

Opening the the action in the second half, Davis found junior Louis Chavez who netted a goal with a shot up the middle at 78:06, his first of the season. Wheaton maintained momentum as Davis took a hard shot of his own, nailing the post, which in returned placed junior Amara Sesay well with a rebound opportunity as he found the break and drilled in his fourth goal of the season, putting the Lyons ahead by three.

Junior goalkeeper Erik Wisniewski recorded his fourth win and third shutout of the year, tallying five saves throughout the game.

The Lyons concluded the matchup, topping the Bears 33-9 on shots and holding the 5-0 mark on corner kicks.

Wheaton travels to Roger Williams on Wednesday with action starting at 7 p.m.
