Men's Soccer Names Three to NSCAA All-New England Region Teams


KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Wheaton College men's soccer team has named three players to the National Soccer Coaches of Association of America (NSCAA) 2016 NCAA Division III Men's All-New England Region list, announced by the league office. Senior Kevin Davis and junior Amara Sesay earned Second Team honors with first-year Roni Diniz claiming Third Team recognition.

This is Davis' third All-Region honor in his four-year career with the Lyons. Davis was also named to New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) First-Team All-Conference earlier this year. He concluded his career competing in 84 games for Wheaton while registering 11 goals, eight assists for 18 points with a .427 shot on goal percentage as a midfielder and defender. This season alone he tallied seven goals and four assists, including two game-winning goals as a team captain.

Sesay picks up his second All-Region honor with the Lyons. He was also earned NEWMAC First Team All-Conference honors for the year, tallying 10 goals, five assists for 25 points while maintaining a .385 shots on goal percentage. He ended the season ranked third in goals, fourth in assists and third in points.

Diniz receives his first All-Region honor, coming off a stellar first year with the Lyons, also being named NEWMAC Rookie of the Year with First Team All-Conference honors. Diniz concluded the year ranked second in goals (15), third in assists (five), second in points (35) and first in shots (110) in his 20 games played with a .482 shots on goal percentage.

The Lyons ended the season 12-7-2 overall with a 3-2-2 record in conference play. Wheaton ended the season during the NEWMAC Championship round against Springfield College.
