WESTWOOD, Mass. - Alberto Franceschi and Diego Medina headline this week's New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Weekly Awards for men's soccer, after the Lyons recorded a 3-0 week.
Franceschi, a first year from Key Biscayne, Florida, was named Offensive Athlete of the Week by the conference after scoring the game-winner in the team's 1-0 win over Coast Guard in NEWMAC play after being outshot by the Bears, 22-8. He then went on to score again the next day, putting the Lyons on the board first in a 3-1 win over Roger Williams.
Medina earns his second consecutive Defensive Athlete of the Week title after posting 15 saves and just one goal against in two appearances last week. The sophomore registered a 10-save shutout to defeat Coast Guard before making five saves in all 90 minutes of the team's 4-1 win over Gordon.
Wheaton returns to action on Wednesday, October 9, when they travel to Rhode Island College for a nonconference game at 6:00 p.m.
