Three Honored with NEWMAC Men's Soccer Postseason Awards

WESTWOOD, Mass. - Three members of the Wheaton College men's soccer team have been honored with postseason accolades as recently announced by the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC). 

Leading the way for the Lyons was senior Jules Stewart, who earned a spot on the First Team as a defender. Stewart competed as a starter for all 18 contests of the season, registering two goals including a game-winner, and two assists for six points. 

JD Souza and Troy Mattos each garnered second team honors. Mattos, a sophomore, appeared in 16 contests over the season, producing 12 shots and registering an assist. 

Souza's four goals rank first among Wheaton players and his nine points tie him for first on the team. Two of Souza's goals were game-winners. 

With a record of 9-8-1 (4-3 NEWMAC), Wheaton ended the season with a 2-1 overtime loss to Babson in the semifinals of the NEWMAC tournament.
