  • The Wheaton College men's tennis team hit the road for a tough battle against the Bates Bobcats, who are currently ranked 24th in the nation, Saturday afternoon with the Lyons falling 9-0.
  • After falling behind early with a loss in No. 2 doubles, Jorge Aguirre Martinez and Jeremiah Ryser battled in the No. 3 spot but ultimately fell 8-4. Ian Tracy and Javier Esteban de Celis also put up a fight in doubles play but fell 8-5 in the top spot. 
  • Singles began with Ryser falling 3-6, 0-6 in the No. 3 spot, followed by a loss from Esteban de Celis (No. 2) 1-6, 1-6, and David Hernaez Sanz (No. 4) 0-6, 4-6. 
  • Tracy (No. 1) lost his match 4-6, 1-6, while Aguire Martinez (No. 5) fell 1-6, 3-6. 
  • Zach Strempel nearly took the opening set of his match against Alex Jacobs, forcing an extra set, but Jacobs came out on top 7-6(3), before taking the second set 6-1.
