BOSTON, Mass. - Sophomore Ashante Little (Seabrook, N.H./Winnacunnet) took sixth in the 400m dash to lead the Wheaton College women's track & field team to a 21st place finish at the 2012 NCAA New England Championship Saturday afternoon at Boston University.
Little completed the race in 56.74 to earn three points for Wheaton. Senior Ashley Dell'Aira (Shoreham, N.Y./Shoreham) picked up two points for the Lyons by placing seventh in the long jump (17' 3 1/2") while classmate Tope Waheed (East Providence, R.I./East Providence) placed fifth in the weight throw (51' 11 1/2") to earn one point.
Senior Didine Jusme (Providence, R.I./Classical) took ninth in the 60m hurdles (9.06) and sophomore Mollie Lane (Hanover, Mass./Hanover) finished 10th in the high jump (5' 3"). The women's 4x400m relay team took sixth with a time of 3:54.11.
Junior Ben Miklovich (New Gloucester, Maine/Gray-New Gloucester) was the only member of the men's squad to advance to the semifinals, where he placed 13th in the 60m dash (7.08) semifinal heat.
Both squads return to action on Friday when they travel to Armory, N.Y. to compete at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship.
