Men's Cross Country Finishes Sixth at NEWMAC Championship

BOSTON, Mass. - The 12th-ranked MIT men's cross country team registered eight of the 10 fastest individual times on the way to claiming its 22nd consecutive title at the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship on Sunday morning at Franklin Park. 

The Engineers recorded a 27-point victory over WPI, which placed four harriers in the top 12. Coast Guard came in third with 99 points, while Springfield College (122) and Babson College (156) rounded out the top five. Wheaton ended the day with a sixth-place finish after recording 158 points. 

Dominic Sclafani paced the way for Wheaton with a 20th place finish with a time of 26:58. Senior Luke Thombs was the next Lyon finisher, crossing the finish line in 27:58. 

The third Wheaton finisher was Alec Devine who registered a time of 28:26, followed by Andrew Kniska who finished in 29:13. Rounding out the top-five was Kevin Fischer who earned a time of 30:06. 

Next up for Wheaton is the New England DIII Regional Championship at Nove. 16 at Bowdoin College.
