NORTON, Mass. – Wheaton College sophomore Allison Baker (Orange, Conn./Amity Regional) has been named to the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Academic All-Conference Team.
An English major with a double minor in secondary English and Spanish, Baker went 13-13 with a 2.65 earned run average (ERA) for the Lyons (19-22). In 32 appearances (28 starts), she allowed 89 runs (63 earned), walked 14 and struck out 91 in 166.1 innings. She recorded 16 complete games.
Springfield and WPI each saw six student-athletes named to the squad, followed by MIT (five), Babson, Smith, and Wellesley (three), Clark (two), and Wheaton.
Honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale after the 2011 fall semester, achieved second year academic status at her institution, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.
