Baker picks up second-career honor
NORTON, Mass. – Junior Allison Baker (Orange, Conn./Amity Regional) and sophomore Emily Berardi (Boston, Mass./Boston Latin) have both been named to the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Softball Academic All-Conference team.
Baker collects her second-career selection while Berardi has earned Academic All-Conference honors for the first time in her career. Honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale after the 2012 fall semester, achieved second year academic status at his/her institution, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.
Baker has achieved a 3.60 GPA as an English major with a minor in secondary education at the College. Baker is also a Wheaton Scholar Athlete and a member of the Dean's List. Berardi has the highest GPA on the team at 3.76 among qualifying student-athletes for a NEWMAC Academic All-Conference team selection as a classics major.
First-seeded Wheaton (25-16) takes on eighth-seeded Becker College (22-14) in the first round of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) tomorrow at a time to be determined later. Both teams were scheduled to play at 4 p.m. today but the game has been postponed due to inclement weather.
