Freshman leads NEWMAC in home runs, RBI
NORTON, Mass. – Wheaton College freshman first baseman Caroline Fairbanks (Milford, Mass./Milford) has been named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Co-Player of the Week. Fairbanks shares the award with Nicole Peacock of Rivier University.
Last week for the Lyons, Fairbanks hit .529/.600/1.176 (.avg/.obp/.slg) with nine hits total, seven runs, three home runs, 13 RBI and three walks. Against Emerson in a 12-10 win, Fairbanks went 3-for-4 with two runs scored, two homers and six RBI.
Fairbanks is currently hitting .405/.471/.857 on the season with 12 runs scored, four doubles, five home runs, 26 RBI and six walks. Fairbanks leads the NEWMAC in home runs and RBI and also ranks second in the league in putouts with 110 (.983 fielding percentage).
Wheaton (21-3, 5-1 NEWMAC), ranked No. 25 in the latest National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) national poll, hosts Coast Guard Academy on Friday, April 4 at 3 p.m.
