Senior claims second career weekly award

NORTON, Mass. – Wheaton College senior Emily Berardi (Boston, Mass./Boston Latin) has earned New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Softball Pitcher of the Week accolades.

Berardi went 3-0 in the circle for Wheaton posting a 0.41 ERA on 17 innings pitched, 17 hits, four runs (one earned), one walk and five strikeouts. Berardi, who held opponents to a .250 batting average, was dominant in her second win of the week over No. 6 nationally ranked Illinois Wesleyan as the senior hurled a complete-game allowing seven hits and just one run (earned) in the victory. Berardi also picked up the triumph over Farmingdale State, who the Lyons lost to last season in the NCAA Tournament.

Offensively on the week, Berardi hit .333/.467/.583 with four hits in 12 at-bats, three walks and five RBI.

Berardi is now a two-time NEWMAC Pitcher of the Week honoree after earning similar accolades on April 7, 2014.

Wheaton (7-3) is currently scheduled to host WPI in a pair of NEWMAC games on Saturday, March 21 with game one slated for 12 p.m.
