BRISTOL, R.I. – The Wheaton College softball team compiled 32 hits in its non-conference doubleheader sweep over Roger Williams University on Tuesday evening at Paolino Field. The Lyons took game one by an 18-0 score and game two by a 12-1 score.

Leading 8-0 after three frames, the Lyons pushed across ten runs on seven hits, four errors and two runners left on base. Wheaton did most of its damage with the long ball as sophomores Emily Bouthillette (Lincoln, R.I./Lincoln) and Morgan Walsh (Norwell, Mass./Norwell) both cranked three-run home runs, respectively, to highlight the frame.
Bouthillette finished the game going 3-for-4 with two runs scored and four RBI, while Walsh was 1-for-1 with one run scored and three RBI. Five other student-athletes in the lineup collected RBI as juniors Madeline Hatch (Acton, Mass./Acton-Boxboro) and Marissa Timoteo (Jupiter, Fla./Jupiter) paced the group with two each.
Wheaton 12, Roger Williams 1 (Game Two, Five Innings)
Senior Noelle Christmas (Plymouth, Mass./Plymouth South) moved her record to 5-0 on the season with a complete-game effort in the circle for the Blue and White. Christmas allowed two hits, one run (earned) and one walk alongside a season-high six strikeouts.
Sophomore Meredith Moise (North Reading, Mass./North Reading) took the loss on five innings of work, 14 hits, 12 runs (ten earned), five walks and two strikeouts.
Ahead 3-0 after three full innings, Wheaton put the game away with nine runs over the final two frames using nine hits during that span to force the mercy rule and complete the sweep.
Juniors Emma Hart (Lincoln, R.I./Lincoln) and Kelly Welch (Wood Dale, Ill./Fenton) both notched RBI's in the fourth, while the Lyons also scored on an error and a wild pitch in the frame. In the fifth, Walsh plated two runs, while Bouthillette and sophomore Rebecca Seifert (Franklin, Mass./Franklin) had RBI base hits and junior Erin Deneen (South Yarmouth, Mass./Lincoln-Sudbury) drove in the final on a ground out to second.
Roger Williams scored its only run of the matchup in the bottom of the fourth as junior Chelsea Boulrisse (Bourne, Mass./Bourne) ripped an RBI single down the right field line to plate classmate Veronica Alicea (Trumbull, Conn./Trumbull) from third.
