Sophomore earns first career weekly honor
NORTON, Mass. – Wheaton College sophomore third baseman Emily Bouthillette (Lincoln, R.I./Lincoln) has been named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Player of the Week.
Bouthillette guided Wheaton to a 6-0 week overall and 4-0 mark in league play with a .684/.667/1.526 slash line (.avg/.obp/.slg), ten runs, 13 hits, four doubles, four home runs, 15 RBI, one walk and a perfect fielding percentage on 16 chances (4 PO, 12 A).
Bouthillette collected three hits and four RBI in three separate games over the course of the week and had at least one hit and one RBI in all six contests. Against Smith College in game two of a doubleheader on April 17, Bouthillette went 3-for-3 with three runs, two homers and four RBI.
Bouthillette is currently hitting .471/.500/.954 on the season in 29 games (87 at-bats) alongside 29 runs, 41 hits, 14 doubles, two triples, eight home runs and 41 RBI. Bouthillette ranks first in the NEWMAC in doubles, home runs, RBI, total bases (83), sacrifice flies (4) and slugging percentage.
Wheaton (26-3, 17-0 NEWMAC), ranked No. 20 in the latest National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Top-25 poll, travels to Rhode Island College tomorrow for a non-conference doubleheader at 4 p.m.
